When Nature Strikes Back
Natural disasters are considered to be part of the cycle that our planet is undergoing and every now and then people get to experience these events that go along with the various changes that occur. Abnormalities in weather patterns are greatly influenced by undisciplined behavior and actions that contaminate the Earth’s environment such as pollution. Pollution is very evident in our atmosphere by this time of our existence and the ones that are responsible for this devastating event in our environment are humans. It greatly contributes to the destruction of our planet, and it alters the homeostasis of our environment affecting many living creatures that continue to strive for survival. Mother Earth would not tolerate pollution and for humans to realize how important it is to care for our environment, natural disasters like typhoons, hurricanes, earthquakes, famines, tsunamis, plagues and tornadoes are transformed into powerful forces that become too difficult for humans to handle claiming thousands of lives each year.
Humans are currently enjoying the benefits of technology and as a counterpart, machines release toxic fumes and harmful substances to the environment greatly affecting our climate and slowly altering the natural cycle of our ecosystem. Humans are greatly dependent on the natural resources that are readily available in our surroundings. Pollutants that contaminate the planet diminish these resources that result to scarcity and famine. It also disturbs the normal process that is supposed to be less harmful to living creatures like humans. Energy released by the sun, which is a main factor that makes life possible, is trapped in the corners of the Earth increasing our temperature to high levels affecting every other process that naturally occurred within our planet. As a result, many species are having difficulty coping up with the changes that occur resulting in their extinction and evolution. Insects and other animals that carry many diseases become resistant to many medications available increasing the mortality rate of humans. Typhoons, hurricanes and tornadoes are experienced more often carrying more powerful winds and gusts; destroying homes, crops and claiming lives.
Natural disasters seem to happen one after another. For example, a country is plagued by a very powerful hurricane that carries along high millimeters of rain and strong winds. It pours heavy rains for a number of days causing rivers to overflow and allow water to stay stagnant for a while which then becomes breeding places for some rodents. People would then be alarmed and buy much food and medication supplies resulting in the scarcity of resources starving a number of people that result to illness and death. In this situation, it shows that an event is usually an effect of another. Therefore, it is a chain that happens gradually but if people are responsible enough to care for the environment, then less people will be affected. In the situation, if trees are not cut down for industrial use then floods would less likely to occur since trees are capable of absorbing water for their photosynthesis. The bottom-line here is that humans play a big role with regards to the extent of the damage that may occur with a certain natural disaster. Earthquakes, on the other hand, usually occur because of the movement of tectonic plates, and it is unavoidable.
Humans are the ones greatly affected by these natural disasters. Humans are given the chance to take charge of the planet and since the negative behaviors that most people do to the environment have significantly increased and have affected our ecosystem, observing safety precautions is the only way for people to survive when such event occurs. People respond to these calamities by using their knowledge and skills in making use of the present resources to help detect the natural activities that occur on Earth. Through these equipments, less people become affected. It also gives people a chance to prepare for upcoming threats like tsunamis, volcanic eruptions and hurricanes. Warnings are highly helpful with regards to natural disasters since people greatly rely on such information. It is also very important to have accurate and precise forecasting to avoid doubts and increase people’s confidence on such as forecasting equipments.
Indeed nature’s wrath is very strong and uncontrollable. Whatever people do to their environment will definitely return to them and when it strikes back, damage is surely extensive and expensive. Recovery becomes difficult for some and a large amount of money is required to fix the damages and restore the normal status of the affected area. It is really important to care for the environment for us to maintain the homeostasis of our ecosystem.
